Stay on topic
The channel is called ``#Linux'', so questions about other
operating systems will at least be frowned upon, and you should
certainly not expect that anyone will be willing to answer them.
Questions about Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT related products will at
best be ignored. You can expect rude remarks going your way if you
ask such a question. (We're not childish, but let's face it:
usually such things are the results of trolls trying to start an OS
war.)
Questions about other UNIX-like OSes, like Solaris, IRIX, or
even BSD are generally tolerated and may even be answered by people
who have experience with that particular UNIX. Remember, this is
#linux so we claim to know linux, not unicos (or whatever), so your
mileage may vary. You're probably better off asking a group that
deals specifically with those OSes, anyway
(#windows{95,98,2000,NT,XP}, #beos, #qnx, #{free,open,net}bsd,
#unix).
Though we do like a nice discussion at times, we're not
#philosophy, #politics, #sex or #LetsBashARandomGroupOfPeople
either...keep your feelings about any of such subject to yourself,
and try not let someone provoke you to useless discussions. We (the
channel operators) will step in if required, even when
participating in said discussions.
