Kicks in #linux

Most channel operators use a script to kick somebody from the channel. This script will set a temporary ban around the kick, these bans usually do not last much longer than 20 seconds. This is done because most clients have ``auto rejoin'' set by default. Kicking a person who uses such a client will result in him automatically rejoining, and sometimes not even noticing that he's been kicked. The short ban is solely there to prevent auto rejoin.

Longer lasting bans are usually there for a reason, complaining about it in /msg or otherwise has little effect beyond extending the ban some more. The ultimate bans we tend to keep around are TLD or domain bans. Currently there are no TLD's banned, but some are under close observation!
