How to get kicked from #linux!
If you do any of the following, you will be kicked. This is not an
exhaustive list, by any means. Provided you stick to the spirit of
the channel and its rules, use your common sense, you will not
provoke an operator to get auto-angry with you.
- Silly, abusive or offensive nicknames. See lame nicks.
- Use bold, underline or colour anywhere,
including in a colon. See this rule.
- Join #linux while using the IRcap mIRC script. IRcap spews all
sorts of horrid colour and crap into the channel. This is inline
with the previous point. See this
rule.
- Joining #linux with the horrible excuse for an IRC client MS
Comic Chat. Do that, and you'll appear to be kickbanned for the
next decade to come.
- Put auto-away rubbish into the channel. See this rule.
- Use the IRC client BitchX with certain default settings. See this rule.
- Parrot excessively. See this
rule.
- /msg people after they have asked you to stop. See this rule.
- Mass ping/version/finger/anything else the channel. See this rule.
- Telnet or otherwise prod or poke someone's system without their
permission. See this
rule.
- Get caught hanging out in a warez, or software piracy channel.
Some ops may kick you if they find you in a cracker/script kiddie
channel. See this rule.
- Become excessively annoying by way of being abusive, stroppy,
childish, trollish or generally idiotic. This includes making use
of the mIRC ``* x slaps y with a large trout''. See this rule.
- Spam, or otherwise advertise irrespective of (commercial or
noncommercial) purpose. See this
rule.
- Try to run a bot, or eggdrop. See this rule.
Be sure to look at the section on our kick-ban policy.
