Getting things added to this faq

As the Changelog indicates, FAQ additions are made fairly regularly. This page describes how to make a submission.

The preferred process (but the least used) is to have someone email me with a specific question and answer. This is probably least used because it requires that you know how to answer the question in the first place; if you know how to answer the question, you don't need a FAQ.

An alternative to this is email that just contains a question. This might generate an email in response, provided I know the answer. The question (and attendant answer) might even make it into the FAQ if I feel like the question will come up often enough.

A third way is for me to just think up a question. This isn't very reliable or common, since if I know the answer, I don't think of it as a question, or it might be something I think isn't germane to Linux use in general.

The fourth way, and probably the most productive, is for me to add questions as I perceive them become frequently asked in the channel.

After a question has been added, the FAQ is updated on the main server. Most of the mirrors update every day, so the question should appear on the mirror sites within 24 hours.
