Wrapping Up

If you're considering switching to Linux, be prepared to have to know things about your computer you didn't expect, and be prepared for the possibility that your particular piece of hardware that is well supported under windows might not be supported under linux.

Such pieces of hardware include some video (display, capture, editing etc) adapters and a particular class of modem.

You'll probably have to read and learn quite a bit going in, and the learning curve can be very steep at first, unless you've already got some UNIX experience.

Be prepared, and you will enjoy; be unprepared, and Linux will be a bad experience.

Here is an article, written by one of our regulars.
